If you’re a parent or caregiver, you’re juggling a lot right now. Between wonky school schedules, virtual learning, and just plain boredom, you may be looking for more ways to keep your kids engaged.
As part of our partnership with sweetgreen to reimagine school cafeterias, we have developed several healthy recipes with sweetgreen’s culinary team to cook with your kids, based on our lessons taught by AmeriCorps service members in classrooms (and on Zoom) across the country. The recipes have been adapted to support healthy eating and food education at home. They’re especially great for picky eaters who need an extra nudge to eat their fruits and veggies.
What’s more: Inviting kids to help with cooking, reading recipes together, and chatting about your family food traditions is an effective and fun way to support literacy and inquiry skills and build healthy eating habits together.

- Chia Strawberry Raw Jam
- Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges
- Roasted Red Pepper Bean Dip
- Honey Seed Snacks (a kid favorite)
- Kale Pesto
- Root Fruit Slaw
- Pureed Carrot and Ginger Soup
These recipes include helpful step-by-step instructions and extra-yummy suggestions for serving. (If you don’t have fresh produce on hand, canned or frozen work fine, too!) And many of these recipes are tied to particular FoodCorps lessons taught in schools across the country.
